Realities cannot be denied either we accept them or not!
The Corona virus pandemic is a brutal reality that has affected the whole world since the beginning. It was not limited to any specific climate, country, race, community or medical condition. It affected all of us.
Natural calamities are like that, they can’t be avoided and have to be accepted, no matter what!
Corona didn’t just have physical affects, it affected people’s mental health as well. Today we will talk about the mental health damages that Corona has caused.
Getting to know few cases near myself, I feel corona is not only a physical condition, but a psychological condition as well. When people are affected by it, the first worry that arises in their mind is coping with their physical condition. The victims are most concerned with the severity of their symptomatology and others around them are worried about catching those symptoms. Near that time if anyone catches cough, headache or fever he/she first thinks of Corona effect.
Interestingly our physical and mental health go hand in hand. One can easily affect the other. If we start thinking that we have Corona symptoms, our body will start developing symptoms that lead to becoming Corona positive. Hence, it is important to keep our minds healthy in order for our bodies to also stay healthy. If you have been affected, firstly don’t worry, COVID-19 has a survival rate of 99.99% for people under the age of 50! And those over 50 have a 96.2% survival rate. We are lucky to be in Australia being one of the few countries to have under significantly less deaths than any other country around the world. Keep fighting on Australia we will get through this pandemic together! (Statistics are based on the Government Health website found here)
Secondly, having problems with breathing is no doubt a serious problem, however take some time to reflect and ask yourself if any anxiety or panic related symptoms are present? Try a breathing exercise to help alleviate the anxiety or panic symtomps using the 4 7 8 technique. Close your mouth and inhale quietly through your nose to a mental count of four. Hold your breath for a count of seven. Exhale completely through your mouth, making a whoosh sound to a count of eight. Now inhale again and repeat the cycle three more times for a total of four breaths.
We cannot deny Corona’s effects but we can develop strategies to overcome these effects.
Unfortunately, Corona is not over yet. It came up again with a second wave followed by a third too. We don’t know how long will it go for and whether the medication and vaccine will result in reducing further damages or not.
We have to develop strategies and methods to overcome its effects. Therefore, we need to work on fighting it instead of hating it. When we hate something we can’t fight it with our full strength and clear mind.
Corona is a reality needs to be accepted and fought with courage!
